(B.A.M.S.) Bachelor of Ayurveda and Surgery BAMS, Medicine and Surgery is a medical degree made for those who have studied about the modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda. It is 5 ½ years course. (4 ½ year course and 1-year internship) But practically it takes six years to complete due to various reasons in various states. The course aims at providing basic education in Ayurveda leading to the degree of B.A.M.S. It aims at preparing graduates of profound scholarship in the science of Ayurveda having basic and fundamental knowledge in different subjects of Ayurveda . He should become an efficient teacher, a research scholar and a competent Ayurvedic physician to be able to contribute in the medical and health services of the country.
In present scenario,the study of Ayurveda is advisable only for those who have studied MBBS. That also, not this BAMS course fully, but useful portions alone of this course. Unfortunately genuine Ayurveda is missing in India.
